Community Transport Project Officer

As part of the Community Transport Team you¡¦ll play an important role in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating existing and new transport schemes which aim to improve accessibility, often in partnership with local communities and organisations. You will also organise a number of passenger transport forums.

You should be a good organiser, have good communications skills and be able to work effectively with people at all levels. A knowledge of transport services and the voluntary sector would be useful.

You should be a good team player, be able to work on your own initiative and use Word, Excel and Access.
Job purpose
To assist in the identification, development, implementation, monitoring and support of transport initiatives to agreed project programmes and within overall policies, plans and strategies.
Essential qualifications
• Educated to A level or BTEC national or close equivalent

• Current driving license or ability to meet the travel requirements of the role across Hampshire.

Essential knowledge, skills & experience
• Evidence of innovative/imaginative thinking and the ability to convert this into practical solutions

• Proven strong organisational and administrative skills including experience of arranging and participating in forums and meetings

• Ability to build effective working relationships with groups and people at all levels and gain commitment from others towards new initiatives

• Able to communicate clearly, firmly and effectively , both written and orally

• Ability to collate and record information demonstrating a high level of accuracy, analyse this and where appropriate make recommendations

• Self-motivated, able to work effectively without supervision within a management framework and with a flexible approach

• Good working knowledge of the distinctive ethos of the voluntary and public sectors

• Ability to plan, develop and implement new initiatives to set timescales

• Good understanding of computer technology - minimum MS Office
• Must be a good team player
Desirable knowledge, skills & experience
• Experience in community transport operations gained either with a local authority or transport operator

• Working knowledge and understanding of community transport legislation
