Graduate Environmental Consultant

We are currently recruiting a graduate environmental consultant to work in our Bristol office.

The successful candidate will have a completed a Degree and ideally a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology or Geology.

Previous work experience in environmental consultancy would be extremely advantageous and preferably knowledge of GIS. You must have a driving license and excellent communication and report writing skills.

Work experience in the field of contaminated land investigation and assessment, including quantitative risk assessment would be advantageous. Candidate should ideally be able to demonstrate experience in the preparation of interpretative reports.
Job Description : The role is within the Soil & Groundwater Service Group. The Soil & Groundwater Service Group forms one of the largest elements of the SW England and Wales operation and has shown consistent growth both in terms of its size and the range of services offered to our clients.

This individual will be responsible for working on a variety of soil and groundwater investigation and assessment projects, with focus on delivery of a high quality product in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Crucial to the success of the individual in this role will be an ability to perform and deliver in the following areas:

To work within a team of high-calibre staff, both on site and within the office environment.

To assist in the organisation of siteworks and reporting of findings.

To assist in the development of conceptual site models and assessment of sites.

To have awareness of commercial opportunities on projects.

Provide a professional consulting service supporting soil and groundwater project managers working on Phase I and II contaminated land assessments and remediation projects.

This position fulfills part of a team role in providing ground investigation services to clients.

Position Responsibilities:

Ensuring that Health and Safety issues are addressed throughout the life of a project.

Conducting site walkovers to support proposal development.

Assisting project managers in developing proposals for ground investigations and remediation projects.

Coordinating field service subcontractors.

Completing ground investigation works.

Coordinating with laboratories to secure appropriate analysis and in a timetable consistent with project requirements.

Coordinating with staff risk assessors to support that aspect of ground assessment.

Completing borehole logs for utilisation in site review and reporting.

Being responsible for ensuring that all documents are issued within appropriate quality system, spell checked, paginated and proof read before issue.

Being familiar with URS quality management system and ensure its effective implementation by the team for all projects and proposals.

Compile and interpret field and analytical data.
Prepare text, table and/or figures for reports (e.g. SI, QRA, RAP and in situ remediation monitoring).
