Associate Director / Principal Consultant Transport Planning

Working at AECOM makes you a member of a global team and an award-winning company. You are supported through a network of connections within your role, your discipline and the regions in which you operate.

With 41,000 people in more than 100 countries, AECOM is a leader in all of the key markets that it serves. Our highly capable team provides a blend of global reach, local knowledge, innovation and technical excellence in delivering solutions that enhance and sustain the world's built, natural and social environments.

At AECOM, our global network of planners, engineers, project managers and supporting technical specialists provides high quality services to public and private sector clients around the world. Travel by land, by sea or by air, and you will encounter transportation systems and facilities that AECOM has planned or designed. Whether a new subway system for New York City, a massive urban development project in the United Arab Emirates, a major container terminal in the port of Hong Kong, a 25-mile toll road in Western Sydney, or the capital improvement program at Los Angeles International Airport; they are all part of AECOM's award-winning global transportation experience.
A Senior Transport Planning Specialist is required to join the management team supervising an overall team of some 50 staff based in St Albans and Redhill. The Transportation Planning Team undertakes modelling, analysis, policy and planning work for public and private clients, for public and private travel modes.

Key responsibilities will include:
Project management (delivering major projects in the relevant technical area to quality standards, on time, and within budget);
Provision of specific technical leadership in an area of expertise;
Supervision of the workload and welfare of some 2 to 6 junior staff; and
An increasing role in Business Development and proposal preparation.

Experience and interest in some of the following are expected:
Transport planning and development;
Transport modelling and forecasting of highway and public transport demand and supply;
Transport investment appraisal, and business case assessment and development; and
Knowledge of one or more of the relevant transport planning software packages such as SATURN, EMME 2, VISUM, CUBE, VISSIM, and PARAMICS.

The Transportation Planning team works alongside colleagues in Traffic Engineering, Development Planning, and Intelligent Transport Systems with an overall strength of over 500 technical staff throughout the UK.

Recent and current projects include:
BAA Surface Access Framework Consultancy;
Railplan modelling and development of Rail Corridor Plans for TfL London Rail;
Professional advice and technical support to Rail Franchise Bidders;
Preparation of Annex E and other funding applications for Suffolk County Council;
Business Case development and documentation for East London Line Project;
Network strategy and development control advice to the Highways Agency, using micro-simulation modelling;
Development of strategic multi-modal models for DfT, HA and local authority applications in the south and east of England; and
Advising financial institutions, scheme sponsors and promoters on a wide variety of European private sector toll road initiatives.

We would be interested in discussing career opportunities with transport modellers seeking to move to managing models and modellers, and progressing towards providing high level project and client relationship management.

WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING RECRUITMENT AGENCY CVs FOR THIS POSITION
