Hampshire County CouncilEconomic Projects ManagerThis is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the team in the Economic Development Office working to support the Hampshire economy come out of the recession. You will manage a range of business support projects, maintain intelligence on the Hampshire employment land and property market and undertake other key economic development activities including overseeing externally funded regeneration programmes. This is a challenging role which will suit an experienced economic development manager.
You will ideally have experience of economic development and regeneration projects and partnership working. You will possess excellent project and people management skills, gained within an economic development environment. You will need excellent communication and IT skills and be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the role. Job purpose • To manage business support and development activities as assigned by the Business Development Manager. • To maintain intelligence on the Hampshire business land and property market, including the interface with property agents and developers. • To promote the county of Hampshire for Inward Investment. Essential qualifications • Educated to a minimum of degree level in an economic development related field. Desirable Qualifications • Project Management and/or marketing qualification. Essential knowledge, skills & experience • Project management experience, e.g. able to demonstrate use of appropriate approaches & techniques. • Substantial staff management experience with the ability to support recruitment, retention & set / monitor performance targets . • Financial management experience to facilitate budget monitoring of expenditure. • Proven experience of partnership working in a variety of business & public sector communities, including HCC members. • Able to interpret, analyse and present complex information. • Able to fulfil the travel requirements of the role. • Proficient user of MS Office & related IT systems. • Able to demonstrate confidence, tact and diplomacy in order to negotiate and persuade & handle complex situations. • High level written, presentation and oral communication skills. Desirable knowledge, skills & experience • Experience in working in a political environment. • Relevant experience of public sector funding programmes i.e. ESF, SRB, SEEDA Programmes, etc.
