Based in the world heritage city of Bath, we are a forward-looking authority with a dynamic change agenda aimed at ensuring we deliver customer-focused services to our community. The district contains many contrasting housing issues and challenges.
There are a significant number of properties in Bath and North East Somerset that are in poor condition and in particular are poorly insulated and difficult to heat. One of the main focuses of the Housing Improvement team is to help vulnerable households improve the condition of their homes by providing financial help in the form of low interest loans and grants.
If you join us in our enthusiastic and energetic Housing Improvement Team as a Senior Housing Surveyor you will be working primarily on helping vulnerable home owners to access the financial help they need and are entitled to.
Your time will be split between inspecting properties, in the office completing housing health and safety rating assessments and working with our Home Improvement Agency. You will enable and support vulnerable people apply for funding. Time spent promoting the Team's work to the public, partners and other professionals is also increasingly important.
Applicants will need to demonstrate:
An understanding of housing law, particularly in relation the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High levels of commitment, flexibility and enthusiasm
An innovative outlook and ability to solve complex problems
