The City of London Corporation is a uniquely diverse organisation. We have a special role and wide remit that goes beyond that of an ordinary local authority with three main aims:

We are centred at Guildhall but also have offices at Mansion House, Walbrook Wharf and outside the Square Mile in relation to our green spaces and other facilities.

The City of London Corporate GIS team seeks to recruit an experienced GIS Support Officer to join the team to support the full range of activities of the City of London Corporation.

Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the operational needs and processes of departments across the organisation with regard to spatial data.

-       Provide technical support to internal users of the Corporate GIS, including development of appropriate materials to engage in one-to-one and small team training in the use of GIS.

You are likely to have most of the following technical skills:

-       Must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach and train others to use GIS as an effective business tool.

-       Familiarity with the INSPIRE metadata standards.

You are likely to be educated to A-Level standard and may be educated to first degree level (preferably a course which included a significant amount of data analysis and/or GIS). Candidates with exceptional ArcGIS experience who are educated at least to GCSE standard or equivalent (must have at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) including Mathematics and English Language) will be considered.

You will have the following experience:

-       Must have significant and demonstrable experience using ArcGIS Desktop (9.3.1 or above).

-       Must be able to demonstrate effective experience of capturing business critical information to precise verifiable standards.

-       Must have experience of importing or migrating GIS data (both vector and raster) from other sources to ArcGIS (preferably including from MapInfo).

-       Must have significant and demonstrable experience of time management and management of competing priorities in a business setting.

-       Should be able demonstrate experience of drafting technical GIS project documentation/proposals for consumption by Chief Officers or Departmental Management Teams.

-       Should have experience of importing into ArcGIS from AutoCAD formats.

-       Experience of developing teaching materials would be an advantage.

-       Experience in process mapping, or the development of processes and procedures, is desirable.
