About Transport for London

Transport for London: keeping the capital moving No other city is as defined by its transport system as London, with its red buses, black cabs and Tube trains recognised the world over. We are responsible for the planning and day-to-day to operation of the capital\'s public transport network, including the Tube, London Overground, the DLR and buses, as well as managing London\'s main roads and building new infrastructure. With around 24 million journeys made across our network daily, we do all we can to keep the city moving and make sure the network is safe, reliable and fit for the future. It’s a big task and we’re looking for skilled, passion-driven people to join our dedicated team of 27,000 employees Transforming London’s landscape We’re changing the face of the capital with new schemes for future generations. Recent additions include the Emirates Air Line, which flies people across the Thames between the ExCeL exhibition centre and the O2 Arena, and an updated version of a much-loved icon with the New Routemaster bus. Our contribution to the city’s transformation continues underground, with improved trains and upgraded stations to handle growing passenger demand. Work is also well under way on Crossrail. The state-of-the-art railway will cut journey times between east and west London and the section through the centre of the city is scheduled to open in 2018. The project is so vast that an academy has been set up to school the next generation of tunnelling experts.
